Feb 06, 2014

***Attention***
This event has been cancelled. Weather has prevented the speaker from flying into Wichita for this event.

The Newman University History Department will present a History Series lecture by Abigail Perkiss at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11  in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center, inside the Dugan Library on the campus of Newman University.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Perkiss teaches Public History and African American History at Kean University in New Jersey. In that role, she tries to help students see the way people have understood what cities should be about and how different ethnic groups should interact within them. At Newman, Abby will share her research about how racial integration worked (or didn’t) in post-World War II Philadelphia. The lecture is based on her upcoming book addressing the subject.

The lecture will be followed by questions from the audience.
