Golf cart donated to ASC Sisters

Martin Park, owner and president of Mommy’s Helper Inc. in Wichita, donated a new golf cart on Friday, Sept. 9, to the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC). The golf cart was donated on behalf of the men’s and women’s golf teams, and Newman University. Read More…

Bishop Jackels blesses Newman Grotto

Following Mass of the Holy Spirit and Matriculation Service held Thursday, Sept. 1, in St. John’s Chapel, the Most Rev. Michael O. Jackels, Bishop of the Diocese of Wichita, invited those at Mass to join him on the newly remodeled Grotto west of Sacred Heart Hall for a dedication and blessing ceremony.

Father Michael J. Linnebur has assumed the duties of chaplain and director of Campus Ministry at Newman University, effective June 20, 2011. Fr. Linnebur’s appointment to Newman is part of a round of new priest assignments made by the Most Rev. Michael O. Jackels, Bishop of the Diocese of Wichita.

Newman University Professor David Shubert signs contract to produce unique electronic chemistry textbook

Newman University Professor of Chemistry David Shubert, Ph.D. has recently signed a contract with Cengage Learning, a global provider of teaching, learning and research solutions, to produce an electronic textbook designed to make the study of organic chemistry more engaging – and perhaps entertaining – for college students. Shubert was interviewed on Thursday, June 16 by Dave Roberts of KWCH Eyewitness 12 News about the book. The story was scheduled to air June 16 on the 5 p.m. newscast on Channel 12.

Sister Thomasine Stoecklein honored for service to Newman

Thomasine Stoecklein, ASC, who retired from Newman University after close to 50 years of service, was honored at a card shower and reception May 17 in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center. The event included comments by Newman President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Education Steven E Dunn, Ed.D., Newman Registrar Shirley Rueb, and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Potter.

Art lovers can purchase posters to support the return of theatre

A fundraiser has been launched in support of the theatre program at Newman University. Oversized, 24″ x 36″ colorful posters featuring the original art of area cartoonist Richard Crowson are now available for $10 each. The posters highlight various fine arts locations in Wichita including Newman University and are portrayed through a colorful illustrated map-like rendition of Wichita.
