Wichita businessman and former Newman University Board of Trustees Chairman John Marstall will receive the Cardinal Newman Medal at the university’s annual Cardinal Newman and Alumni Awards Banquet, set this year for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center on the Newman campus.
The Newman University Music/Theatre Department will present “An Evening of Theatre” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 and Saturday, Feb. 19, in Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus.
Newman University will stage a number of events Feb. 4 – 6 in celebration of Homecoming 2011 and the Newman University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2011.
The Steckline Gallery at Newman University presents “Ars Ex Machina” by artist Lee Shiney, the fifth exhibit of the gallery’s 2010-2011 season. The show, which is curated by Chris Gulick, will begin with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, as part of the Wichita “Final Friday” art gallery crawl. Newman University recognized 18 candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the annual Nurses’ Pinning ceremony held Dec. 10.
Several children from low-income families in Wichita are able to see better today at no cost to their parents, thanks to a joint effort by Newman University nursing students and several Wichita area optometrists and optical dispensers.
Eighteen Wichita area high school students got a taste of college life – and two hours of college credit – by successfully completing the 2010 Newman University Hispanic Scholar Program. Read More…
Newman University will hold the Fall 2010 Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement ceremony on Dec. 10 and Dec. 11, respectively. The university will also honor graduating nursing students, and will award honorary degrees to three distinguished members of the Wichita community.

Newman University will present Wit, a play written by Margaret Edson that offers a poignant and at times amusing look at how end-of-life care is dealt with as seen through the eyes of a renowned English professor diagnosed with terminal cancer.
