Western Kansas residents who wish to earn a teaching degree or build on an existing elementary education degree will now have the ability to do so without leaving their hometowns, thanks to a new early childhood education degree program to be offered by the Newman University Western Kansas Center.

Newman University Music Department presents ‘Dancin’ Through the Decades’ April 28 – 30

Ohio State University professor to present for History Speaker Series

The recent disaster in Japan has propelled the world into learning the latest information about nuclear energy from the current field of scientific experts. It is apparent science has played and will continue to play a key role in our global society. Dr. Alan Beyerchen, associate professor of History at The Ohio State University, will visit Newman University as the keynote speaker for the History Department’s annual History Speaker Series. Beyerchen will present a lecture entitled “From the Chemists’ War to the Physicists’ War and Beyond:  Thoughts on What Science Brought to the Military Table in the Global Conflicts of the 20th Century.”

Gerber Institute at Newman University hosts lecture by author, education expert Alfie Kohn April 16

Nationally known author and education expert Alfie Kohn will present a lecture entitled “Don’t Beat Them, Join Them: Exploring the Value of Cooperation in a Society Addicted to Winning.” The presentation will take place Saturday, April 16 at Kapaun Mount Carmel High School, 8506 E. Central in Wichita. The event is free and open to the public, and is hosted by the Gerber Institute for Catholic Studies at Newman University.

Newman University offers ‘sneak peek’ of Carnegie Hall concert March 6

The Newman University vocal group The Troubadours, select members from the Clearwater High School Blue Notes, and select members from the Bishop Carroll Catholic High School Madrigals and Chanterelles have been chosen to perform at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City on Sunday, March 13.

Newman University will provide a “sneak peek” of all the music to be performed at Carnegie Hall at a special concert scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus. Read More…
