Newman University to host the musical ‘Pippin’ Mar. 8

The Newman University Theatre Department will host its second play of this school year in early March. The Theatre Department will present the musical “Pippin” on March 8, 9,10 at 8 p.m. and March 11 at 2 p.m. in Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus. The musical “Pippin” is a story about a young prince named Pippin who is on a search for meaning and purpose. Kevin Godfrey to speak on Feb. 21 during Cardinal Newman Week

Alvernia University Associate Professor of Theology Kevin Godfrey, Ph.D. will present the Cardinal Newman Lecture at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 in the Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center. Godfrey will speak on reconciliation in the life and thought of Blessed John Henry Newman.

Newman University to hold Financial Aid Workshop Feb. 2

NU Admissions will hold a Financial Aid Workshop to provide information to students about scholarships, grants, loans, and FAFSA, as well as to address any other questions they may have. Join the celebration of the birth and life of St. Maria De Mattias

On Feb. 3, join the Adorers of the Blood of Christ as they celebrate the birth and life of their foundress, St. Maria De Mattias. The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. where there will be a dessert and social with the Sisters followed by an evening prayer at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Adorers’ dining room at the ASC Wichita Center.

Anyone who wishes to come should contact JoAnn Mark, ASC so she can know how much they will need for dessert.

Newman University to present concert, other activities for Cardinal Newman Week Feb. 19-25

Newman University to hold ‘A Play in a Day’ event Feb. 3-4

The Newman University Theatre Department will hold the first of what is planned to be an annual event, a 24-hour Theatre Project. The activity will begin Feb. 3 and finish with performances of original productions at 8 p.m. Feb. 4, in the Jabara Flexible Theatre, inside the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus.

The Gerber Institute at Newman University presents lecture on land and national identity Jan. 31

The Gerber Institute for Catholic Studies at Newman University will present “‘From California to the New York Island’: Reflections on Land and National Identity” from noon to 12:50 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Tarcisia Roths, ASC Alumni Center, inside the Dugan Library and Campus Center on the Newman campus. The lecture will feature Newman Professor of History and Humanities Division Chair Cheryl Golden, Ph.D., and Newman Associate Professor of History Kelly McFall, Ph.D.
