The Newman University Party on the Plaza scholarship fundraiser is coming up soon – Saturday, Sept. 26. The event features a silent and live auction, authentic German food, music, and of course – beer.
What is an American/German Oktoberfest without beer after all? There would be no keg for a mayor to tap. Polka is just annoying without it. Without beer – no one would dare to do the chicken dance.
The selection of beer to be served at this year’s Party on the Plaza is a delicate task. Everyone has a favorite and no beer is the same. There is dark beer, light beer, wheat beer, pumpkin beer – there is even pizza beer. Did you know beer can be infused with helium?
Below is our beer selection for the 2015 Party on the Plaza:
Odell Oktoberfest
American Oktoberfest beers are seasonal beers that are brewed specially for the occasion. Brewed with biscuity sweet Munich malts and spicy, herbal noble hops, Odell Oktoberfest is a reminder to stop and enjoy the event.
Goose Island IPA
India Pale Ale at Oktoberfest? Why not? Many beer enthusiasts – especially home brewers – love the taste of a “hoppier” beer. Goose Island IPA is a hops lover’s dream with a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, and long hops finish.
New Belgium Pumpkick
Pumpkin beer is a popular seasonal Oktoberfest beer. Pumpkick is brewed with plenty of pumpkin juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but it’s the cranberries and touch of lemongrass that send your taste buds sailing.
Bud Light
Despite the other three more flavorful selections, Bud Light is sure to run dry before all else. This is America – and Americans drink Bud Light.
We hope you have found our beer selection process thorough and well-planned for this year’s event. Please comment below and let us know if you agree with our list of beers.
All beer will be provided by our friends at the House of Schwan.
