Nov 29, 2012

Sacred Heart College alumni, Newman University faculty and staff, and friends of the university were among those who attended the dedication of the Lillian Taylor Conference Room and Gathering Space, Nov. 11 in the De Mattias Fine Arts Center.

NU President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., left, and former NU President and Professor Emerita of History Tarcisia Roths, ASC unveil a plaque commemorating the Lillian Taylor Conference Room.

The areas were named for former Sacred Heart College drama teacher Lillian (Sister Theophane) Taylor as part of the effort to bring theatre back to Newman University. The university launched campaigns for Sacred Heart College alumni and Sacred Heart Academy alumnae, which raised $60,000 by honoring Taylor as well as Academy speech teacher Ambrosine Comerford, ASC and music teacher Salome Herman, ASC.

The dedication was followed by a matinee performance of the theatre production “Something’s Afoot.” On Oct. 14, Newman held the dedication of the Sister Ambrosine Comerford, ASC Scene Shop and the Sister Salome Herman, ASC Rehearsal Hall.

Sacred Heart Academy alumna and NU Director of Mission Effectiveness and Archives Charlotte Rohrbach, ASC speaks during the dedication of the conference room.
