Newman University education student earns Horizon Award for teaching

Newman University student Jed Heath recently received the Horizon Award from the Kansas Department of Education. Each year the Department bestows the Horizon Award to 32 teachers across the state of Kansas. It is given to first year teachers who have exhibited admirable teaching skills as educators.

Heath teaches seventh grade biology at Derby (Kan.) North Middle School. He received an undergraduate degree in biology from Washington State University, and completed the secondary education program at Newman University in 2014. Heath is currently in the Newman Master of Education – Building Leadership program.
