Newman to host Brownback inaugural prayer service Jan. 11

As part of the events surrounding the inauguration of Gov. Sam Brownback, Newman University will host a prayer service at 2 p.m., Jan. 11 in the Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center. Doors will open at 1 p.m. Business attire is requested.

The service will include music by the Tabernacle Baptist Church Choir and the Central Christian Church Choir, as well as a welcome and invocation by Newman President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D. Representatives of various churches and religions in Wichita will also provide comments and prayers. A reception in the Gorges Atrium will follow the service.

Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for collection before the service.

The prayer service is one of four official inaugural events spread across three days to mark the beginning of Brownback’s second four-year term.
