Newman Serves During the Holiday Season

In the holiday season, Newman has been involved in numerous drives and events to help support those in need.

A toy drive was held for the children of the Navajo Nation at Crownpoint, N.M. from Oct. 29 to Nov. 26.

The Newman Club helped gather shoe boxes of school supplies, toys, everyday personal items and more for children all over the world through “Operation Christmas Child” which ended Nov. 7.

The Newman Club has also participated in bell ringing for the Salvation Army at the Wal-mart store on west Kellogg.

Staff member Gail Gettman and faculty member Larry Heck helped raise money from Newman employees for the 2007 United Way Campus Campaign.

The Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) is finishing up a shoe drive for children in Guaymas, Mexico. Campus Ministry had seen this need through their recent service trip.

The Newman community helped Stuff the Bus to benefit Catholic Charities Harbor House and YWCA Women’s Crisis Center on Nov. 29.

The Newman community is also volunteering at the Catholic Charities Distribution Center today, Dec. 6.
