Mar 21, 2013

Newman University will host a Spring Open House event, “Under the Big Top at Newman University,” from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday April 9, in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center.

The carnival-themed event is open to anyone interested in attending or learning more about Newman University, including new freshman students, transfer students, returning adults, veterans and active duty members of the military.

The event will include a financial aid workshop at 5:30 p.m. that will highlight and explain the many grants, scholarships and work-study programs Newman offers to help make a high-quality, private college education an affordable option for students, regardless of age or interest. Newman awards on average $8,000 to $10,000 in financial aid to each student.

Faculty and staff representatives from across the university will also be available to answer questions and provide information and materials about the many academic programs at Newman. Advisors will also be on hand to help guide interested students through the application and registration processes. “Under the Big Top” will also include free popcorn and several opportunities for attendees to win a special door prize.

“We encourage everyone to stop by, ask questions, enjoy some free festive food, and find out about Newman University,” said Admissions Counselor Allison Woods. “You may be surprised at everything Newman has to offer.”
