Oct 25, 2011

The Newman University Chorale and Troubadours will present their first vocal music concert of the year on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m. in historic St. John’s Chapel inside Sacred Heart Hall at Newman University.

The Newman Chorale will present Ralph Vaughn William’s Dona Nobis Pacem which features the poetry of Walt Whitman. The Newman Troubadours will begin the concert with poems by E.E. Cummings (also commonly written as ee cummings), arranged by Eric Whitacre, as well as poems from Langston Hughes; all set to music.

“The audience can’t help but be swept away by the varied styles of music with each of these poems,” said Newman Director of Music Deanne Zogleman. “This makes for an entertaining hour. There’s something for everyone.”

Admission is $5 at the door. NU students are admitted free with a college ID. Doors will open at 2:30p.m.
