He begins his new duties July 1.

Newman’s Title IX program will continue to report to the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

“I’m excited to have Vic take on this role,” said Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., Newman University president. “I believe he’ll do a wonderful job leading Student Affairs just as he has done leading our athletic department for the past seven years.”

As Vice President for Student Affairs, Trilli will be responsible for cultivating the university’s pledge to student success.

“Vic played an important part in Newman University’s most recent strategic planning efforts, co-chairing the task force for the plan’s third goal – ‘To develop comprehensive and integrated co-curricular programs to foster life-long learning and enhance the out-of-class experience’, ” Carrocci said.

Throughout his 40 year higher education career, Trilli has been recognized as a transformational leader, a passionate advocate for the schools he has represented and an excellent communicator. He has also garnered praise for his ability to nurture staff and build a shared sense of respect, trust and mission.

“This is really a great opportunity at an amazing university. I’m truly grateful and appreciate the chance to expand my role,” Trilli said.

“I have been in higher education my entire life. I’ve never had a job outside of a collegiate setting and I’ve always been involved with students and helping them experience success,” Trilli added, “I’m confident we can do a good job building on the outstanding programs in place right now and add to those initiatives so we can experience even greater success in the future.”

Trilli will work closely with Newman’s Dean of Students Levi Esses to foster an environment of inclusiveness, enhance student learning, build community and promote student growth through engagement in university life outside the classroom.

“It’s extremely important to have this position and by collaborating together to increase student engagement and support student success we’ll better meet our goal of enhancing the out of class experience,” Esses said.

“I think Vic is going to be really good at his new role. He will help us grow by allowing us to share ideas, championing increased university support and creating a larger team within Student Affairs,” Esses added.

Trilli’s ability to create and successfully implement new programs and lead staff and students to achieve strategic goals will help him in his dual roles at Newman.

“I look forward to the challenges of my new position and I’m energized about the added responsibilities,” Trilli said, “With talented teams in place in student life and athletics I’m confident that we will be extremely successful on both fronts.”

As athletic director, Trilli is credited with Newman’s successful transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. He is also recognized for establishing a booster club, increasing athletic fundraising efforts, as well as building competitive sports programs that have experienced success on and off the field. Under his leadership, Newman has seen teams qualify for first-ever NCAA postseason appearances in men’s and women’s basketball, golf, tennis and cross country. Newman student-athletes have had the highest overall GPA among athletic programs in the Heartland Conference for four straight years and six out the last seven years.
