Newman University to hold Catholic Spring Sports Day April 21 featuring Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Bishop Carroll teams

Newman University will again host a Catholic Spring Sports Day between Wichita’s Catholic high schools, Kapaun Mt. Carmel and Bishop Carroll. The two schools will compete in baseball, softball, and soccer beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 21 on the Newman campus at 3100 McCormick.

This fourth annual event will consist of both varsity and junior varsity games, followed by Mass in Fugate Gymnasium, inside O’Shaughnessy Hall on the Newman campus. Mass will be celebrated by both high school chaplains, Fr. Aaron Spexarth and Fr. Ben Sawyer.

Games will take place on the Newman playing fields along Sheridan Street on the west side of the Newman campus. The gates will open at noon. Admission for all games is $6 for adults, $4 for students, free to KMC/BC/Newman students with student ID.

Game schedule:

1 p.m.- JV Baseball

1:45 p.m.- JV Soccer

2 p.m.- V Softball

3 p.m.- V Baseball

3:30 p.m.- V Softball

3:30 p.m.- V Soccer

5:30- Mass
