Newman University to stage ‘Party on the Plaza’ to benefit student scholarships

Sep 02, 2010

Newman University will bring the sights and sounds of the French Quarter to life for its annual fundraising and social event with the “Party on the Plaza – New Orleans Style.” The event will take place from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2. on Founders Plaza, just south of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus.

Among the many activities scheduled for the evening are food and drink, a live and silent auction, a dance to the local Zydeco Cajun band The Mudbugs, and fireworks.

All proceeds will benefit scholarships at Newman University.

“We’ve always been pleased with the response we get to our annual fundraiser,” said Newman Vice President for Institutional Advancement Tom Borrego. “This year we’re building the event around a new theme that I think people will really enjoy. And, as in every year, the money raised will go to a great cause – supporting scholarships so that more students can attend Newman University.”
