Newman University’s Master of Social Work Program earns re-accreditation

Feb 26, 2015

The Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Newman has been successfully re-accredited for an additional eight years.

“This has been a rather long and difficult process, so all of us Social Work faculty are extremely glad that our work paid off,” said Interim Director and Assistant Professor of Social Work Gloria Hegge, Ph.D.

Hegge thanked the Social Work faculty for their hard work during the long process. She credited them for their outstanding teamwork.

“I would also like to thank Dr. Barry Koch, associate professor at our Colorado Springs campus, for doing most of the writing on our 700-page Self-Study,” Hegge said. “I would like to thank Dr. Audrey Curtis Hane and Dr. Michael Austin for providing much-needed resources, and for being so encouraging to us!”

Hegge noted that many departments came together to help MSW in its re-accreditation effort including the Registrar’s Office, the Business Office, the Admissions Office and many other staff and faculty who helped provide needed statistics and information about Newman.

The re-accreditation is extremely valuable for Newman’s program.

“Help us spread the word off campus that we have been re-accredited for another eight years, and that all your friends and acquaintances can attend our MSW program with confidence that we have a quality program,” Hegge said.
