Dodge City area residents earn education degrees from Newman University

A total of 24 residents of Dodge City and other western Kansas communities were recently awarded degrees from Newman University. The students completed their requirements for graduation in December 2011. Fourteen area residents earned bachelor of science degrees in Elementary Education, while 10 earned master of science degrees in Education.

Volunteers still needed for Newman University booth at the Kansas State Fair

With the Kansas State Fair opening very soon in Hutchinson, Kan., Newman is still looking for more volunteers to help at our State Fair booth. The booth will be stationed in the Meadowlark Building during the fair Sept. 9-18. Volunteers will receive two entry passes to the fair and a little cash to experience the variety of fried goodies on a stick. Continue reading

Open House set for April 12

Western Kansas residents who wish to earn a teaching degree or build on an existing elementary education degree will now have the ability to do so without leaving their hometowns, thanks to a new early childhood education degree program to be offered by the Newman University Western Kansas Center.

Newman University will be at the 2010 Kansas State Fair until Sept. 19 on the fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kan. Newman University stages contest to name new mascot

Newman University is in the final phase of completing a new university mascot and has launched a contest to give the mascot a fitting name. The contest, which will award the winner a new IPad, is open to everyone in the Wichita community and will end Sept. 19. The new mascot will make its first appearance Sept. 27 at halftime of the women's soccer match on Wilkins Field on the Newman campus.

Newman University hosts September England tour for beatification of John Henry Cardinal Newman

Newman University will sponsor a pilgrimage tour to England for individuals wishing to attend the beatification of 19th century Catholic theologian and educator John Henry Cardinal Newman, for whom Newman University is named. The eight-day Cardinal Newman Tour will take place Sept. 15 - 22, 2010, with the beatification scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 19. Pope Benedict XVI will preside at the ceremony at the Birmingham airport, located near Coventry. The tour group is limited to 40 persons. Continue reading

The Newman University Fall 2009 Commencement ceremony was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple.
