Newman University will host the 32nd Annual Laurie Bell Memorial Jet Open Charity Golf Tournament Aug. 7 and 8. The golf tournament is designed to raise funds for the Athletic Department, and gives Newman supporters an opportunity to come together and compete in a friendly game of golf.
The tournament will be held over the course of two days. It will start with a pre-golf party at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center at Newman University. The pre-golf party will consist of a social hour featuring cocktails and appetizers for participants and their guests, followed by the annual silent and live auctions. All are welcome at no charge.
The Jet Open tournament itself will be Monday, Aug. 8 at Rolling Hills Country Club. Registration will be held at 6:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., with a choice of a 7:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Teams of four will compete to take the first place title. There will also be prizes on par 3 holes, longest drive, and longest putt.
Following the event, an after-party and awards ceremony will take place at Emerson-Biggins West featuring a taco bar buffet.
The entry fee is $250 per person, which includes admission to Sunday’s kick-off party, Monday’s tournament lunch, driving range balls, golf cart, and refreshments and snacks on the course. Participants must register by Friday, Aug. 5.
