The nomination period is now open for the 2020 Difference Makers for Wichita awards. The program, which is in its fourth year, recognizes and celebrates area individuals and organizations for the positive impact they create for the greater Wichita community.

The nomination process is free and submissions are open through Oct. 31. The public is encouraged to submit nomination forms for deserving individuals, companies and not-for-profit organizations at www.WichitaDifferenceMakers.com.

As in the past, winners are chosen in six nominee categories. Each individual and organization selected by an independent committee will be honored during the annual awards banquet Feb. 22, 2020, at the Newman University Dugan-Gorges Conference Center.

The Difference Maker nomination categories are:

The Russ Meyer Award for Community Leadership — awarded to an individual making a positive impact in our community through demonstrated excellence in leadership and outstanding initiative to create solutions for critical issues facing the greater Wichita area.

The Ivonne Goldstein Award for Community Volunteer — awarded to an individual who, through outstanding volunteer community service and commitment, is making a measurable difference in the community.

The Sr. Tarcisia Roths, ASC, Award for a Not-for-Profit Organization — awarded to a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization that is creating a significant impact in our community.

The Brian Bergkamp Student Service Award — awarded to a high school student who by example has demonstrated a selfless and giving attitude to positively transform society.

Everyday Hero Awards (multiple honorees) — awarded to individuals who do not seek recognition but rather are inspired through an unwavering commitment to the day-to-day service of others to make a positive difference for our community.
