The Aging & Wellness Coalition of Sedgwick County has partnered with the Newman University School of Social Work to host the first summer session of “Senior University” in June. The event, scheduled for June 5-7, is geared for adults 55 and older who are active, engaged and interested in expanding their knowledge on a variety of subjects.
The registration cost is $65 for the three days of classes and includes lunch each day and a closing reception on the afternoon of June 7. This three-day workshop is the first of its kind in Wichita and will offer class options that are a mix of social, educational and cultural learning.
Classes include but aren’t limited to History of Aviation in Wichita, Wichita’s Tuskegee Airmen and Their Stories, Your Best Brain at Work, Globalization of Disease, Latin and Old English Riddles, Delicious Dietician, and much more.
Classes will be taught by doctoral and master-level presenters from the area’s local universities, or local experts in their fields. This series is designed to interest all levels of learners, offering an opportunity for higher education at a reasonable cost.
