The Gerber Institute for Catholic Studies at Newman University will host a presentation by Akiiki Daisy Kabargarama on April 2 on her new book Peace Begins with Me: Simple Lessons to Cultivate Peace in Your Life, Family, Community, Nation and the Entire World. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. in the Tarcisia Roths, ASC Alumni Center inside the Dugan-Library and Campus Center.
Kabargarama, an award-winning author and teacher, is a native of Uganda and has lived in America for 31 years. She is the author of nine books and her personal mission is to promote peace and understanding among all people. Kabargarama currently serves as an adjunct professor for Newman University as well as for Butler Community College, Friends University, and Wichita State University.
Dr. Kabargarama is a graduate of Makerere University, Uganda; Iowa State University, and Wesley Theological Seminary. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social work, masters’ degrees in community and regional planning, divinity, and theology, and a doctorate degree in sociology. She has been a professor, minister, university campus pastor, television program host and diversity/peace consultant.
