Governor Sam Brownback proclaimed the week of Sept. 16 – 22, 2013 as “Kansas Private College Week.” Newman University is one of 18 private colleges in Kansas which comprise the Kansas Independant College Association (KICA).
According to the proclamation signed by Governor Brownback, Kansas private colleges make up 22% of all bachelors degrees and 25% of all Masters degrees completed within the state of Kansas.
In total, Kansas private colleges award over $154 million in grants and scholarships annually making it easier for students to achieve a quality education.
In the proclamation, it is also touted that private colleges in Kansas promote the highest values and virtues and as a result have consistently produced leaders that shape the future of Kansas as many of the alums are known as influential and celebrated civic, business and cultural leaders across the state.
Founded Sept. 12, 1933, Newman is excited to celebrate its 80th anniversary this year and is proud to be a member of the KICA. Newman takes very seriously its commitment to educating graduates who will transform society and looks forward to growing students professional, personally, and spiritually for another 80 years.
