Newman University officials announced today 20th day enrollment figures show another record fall enrollment for the university. According to the official federal enrollment report, 3736 students are enrolled in Newman classes, a 20 percent increase from last year’s figure of 3,108. This is the fifth year in a row Newman has experienced record-breaking enrollment in headcount.
The growth can be attributed to strong increases in the graduate programs and in “Advanced Standing” enrollment for high school students. The graduate programs saw a headcount increase of 217 students (29.8 percent) from 724 to 940. The Advanced Standing program which provides dual-credit enrollment for area high school students reported an enrollment of 1440.
“Last year at this time we knew we needed to increase our graduate student population and it’s wonderful to see those efforts pay off,” said Newman President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D. “That work, coupled with the strength of our Advanced Standing program, are to be credited for our ability to mark yet another year of enrollment growth.”
“It’s a competitive market,” Carrocci said, “And, I’m particularly grateful that we could post a headcount increase this fall as we celebrate our 80th anniversary.”
