Newman University President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D. has joined with 21 other leaders of education and business for “Together Wichita 2014,” a partnership designed to celebrate life in Wichita, and to identify, organize and fund projects to enhance the community.
Together Wichita 2014 is a year-long community-wide initiative launched by the Wichita Eagle to showcase the positive aspects of the city and find ways to make it even better. Each of the 22 sponsor companies has made a financial investment in the campaign, which will be used to fund several improvement projects for the city. Anyone in Wichita can suggest ideas to help enhance the community. The board of sponsors will work together to determine which projects to organize and fund.
As part of their involvement in Together Wichita 2014, sponsor representatives will be featured in the pages of the Eagle as well as on Kansas.com and billboards in the city, along with interesting facts and information regarding some aspect of Wichita.
Carrocci noted that the mission of Newman University – to empower graduates to transform society – is a perfect fit with the aims of the Together 2014 campaign.
“Together 2014 will allow us to set yet another example for our students, alumni and friends of the many creative ways entities can come together to serve and make a difference for the common good,” Carrocci said. “And we are pleased to be in the company of so many top-notch organizations!”
The initiative includes representatives from Intrust Bank, Westar Energy, Spirit AreoSystems, United Way of the Plains, Star Lumber, and many others.
