If you venture to campus this week, you may see many more new faces than normal. That’s because the Newman University Admissions Department is hosting potential new students and their parents in a series of events all week.
The first event was Senior Visit Day on Feb. 16. It brought high school students who are interested in Newman for tours and presentations.
Newman will continue to be showcased to high school seniors this weekend.
On Friday, Feb. 20, accepted students who have already made their deposits for Fall 2015 and meet academic qualifications to apply to the Honors Program, will attend the Honors Reception at the Gorges Atrium starting at 6 p.m.
There is also a unique opportunity for all accepted students to experience an overnight visit Friday evening. Admissions representatives expect a dozen incoming seniors to stay with current students in the residence halls. The visitors will also take part in a program put on by the Student Affairs office.
Additionally, Accepted Student Day will bring 55 students and their families to campus Saturday, Feb. 21. More than 100 people are expected to attend the program, which begins with breakfast and presentations featuring Newman President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., students, alumni, faculty and admissions staff. The event will include the opportunity for accepted students to tour campus and residence halls, sit in on a class taught by Newman faculty, participate in an Academic and Campus Life Fair, learn about financial aid and attend Newman sporting events.
Interviews for the ASC Community Leader Scholarship and auditions for Music and Theatre will also be held during the day for accepted students.
