Newman University’s 11th annual Literary Festival is almost here. The Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11, in the Jabara Flexible Theatre inside the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on campus. The theme for this year is “E-scapes: The Possibility for Hope in a Post-Literary America.”
The Literary Festival will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. with opening remarks by Newman University President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., followed by two days of panels, presentations, master classes, featured speakers, and, to conclude each day at 10 p.m., movies. The weekend’s events will cover a wide range of topics.
“The Newman Literary Festival is an opportunity for scholars and writers at every level to come together and share their love for the words we serve,” said Newman Professor of English Bryan D. Dietrich, Ph.D., organizer of the event. “It’s a feast of books for brains.”
This year’s keynote speaker is Sherryl Vint, Ph.D., associate professor of English Language and Literature at Brock University in Ontario, Canada. Other speakers will include Timothy Richardson, Ph.D., and Wendy Donaldson, as well as Newman Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Austin, Ph.D. Newman faculty participants include Dietrich, Susan Crane, Ph.D., Marguerite Regan, Ph.D., Stephen Poulter, Ph.D., Jamey Findling, Ph.D., Christopher Fox, Ph.D., and Kelly McFall, Ph.D. Several students are also scheduled to give presentations.
