The 31st Annual Laurie Bell Memorial Jet Open Charity Golf Tournament was a big success by anyone’s standards, drawing 212 golfers and raising approximately $100,000 to support Newman University Athletics.
The event began with a pre-party on Aug. 1 in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center, which included a live and a silent auction. Athletics officials estimate the auctions brought in close to $100,000. The tournament was held Aug. 3 at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Wichita, and included 53 teams.
The winning team for this year’s Jet Open was made up of 2000 Newman graduate and former Golf Team member Joey Todd, former Golf Team member Cody Robinson, 1992 Newman graduate and former Men’s Golf Team Coach Mark Jolliffe, and Darren Copp. The group was part of the Weber & Associates team. The Wichita company specializes in protecting critical power equipment from failure and cooling data storage environments.
An after-party followed the tournament where tournament winners and auction bidders could collect their prizes.
