Congratulations to three Newman University alumni, Bart Grelinger, Larry Hund and Patrick George Wolf who were placed on the Best Doctors in America List for 2015. The list is an online resource created by Best Doctors, Inc, who believes that the best physicians are picked by other physicians. Their reviewers are asked the question, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in a certain specialty, who would you choose?”
Grelinger, Hund and Wolf appeared in the Oct. 30 issue of the Wichita Business Journal alongside 84 other Wichita-area physicians who were selected by Best Doctors.
All the honorees were guests at a reception Oct. 27 at the Wichita Country Club. Newman Professor Emeritus (Biology) Surendra Singh, Ph.D. and Vice President for Enrollment Management Norm Jones attended the event on behalf of the university.
Hund and Wolf are both 1974 Newman graduates. Wolf specializes in internal medicine and practices at Internal Medicine South. Hund attended medical school at the University of Kansas and practices pediatric medicine at Mid-Kansas Pediatric Associates PA.
In WBJ’s Best Docs profile of Hund he said that he became a doctor because of “[his] interest in the biological sciences, as well as wanting to work in a helping profession…”
Grelinger, who also attended medical school at KU, is now a senior partner with Neurology Consultants of Kansas. He also said that his choice to pursue healthcare had much to do with his desire to help his community.
“I can never recall wanting to be anything else. We are social and multifaceted individuals. What better way to interact with and serve others?” Grelinger said.
Grelinger, whose daughter Katie also attended Newman, serves on Newman’s Board of
Trustees. He said he believes Newman plays an integral part in educating not just doctors but various medical professionals within the Wichita-area and without.
“I think there are 170-some people out of medical school or currently in medical who’ve come out of Newman University… Lots of dentists. Lots of other professionals,” he said. “They guide you in the right places to put you in the profession that’ll be the best for you, where your personality fits.”
