The Newman University Music Department will present a special offering, “Christmas Traditions,” to celebrate the season at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 in Performance Hall, inside the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus. The concert will feature the Newman University Troubadours and Chorale joined by the select Madrigal group from Wichita Heights High School for a concert of traditional Christmas music.
“The joint collaboration of the groups on one stage will deliver a powerful sound that is sure to fill hearts with the true meaning of Christmas,” said Newman Director of Music Deanne Zogleman. “It is a tradition for us to invite an outstanding high school choral group from the area, and we are excited that this year the Heights Madrigals will be able to join us in song.”
The cost for this special event is $5 per person. Those who supported the T-shirt fundraiser for the Troubadours Carnegie Hall trip will receive a $3 discount if they wear the Christmas green Troubadour shirt to the concert. Seating is limited and the single performance is sure to sell out. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the door. The box office will open at 2:15 p.m. and doors open at 2:30 p.m.
“Come enjoy ‘Christmas Traditions’ and fill your heart with sounds of the season,” Zogleman said.
