Newman University recently launched its official podcast, “The Newman Bond,” for listeners around the world to enjoy.
“In this podcast, we’ll be sharing and celebrating the stories, lessons, tips and experiences of those who make up the Newman community,” explained Newman President Kathleen Jagger, Ph.D., MPH. “It’s a place where you will learn new things, enjoy conversations among experts and hopefully see just what makes this university such a special place: the people.”
New episodes of The Newman Bond will be released every first and third Tuesday of the month at noon via YouTube. In addition to YouTube, all episodes will eventually be housed at newmanu.edu/podcast.
Video Communications Specialist James Sanny produces and edits each episode featuring various guests. He describes the podcast as “a really exciting” endeavor for Newman.
“As someone who has had the chance to both earn my degrees at Newman and also serve as a staff member here, I love the idea of taking a deeper dive into our community,” Sanny said.
“One of the things that stuck out to me within the first few months of my time working here is that the Newman community is really like a cast of characters,” he said. “There is a uniqueness to each person here that, if you spend even a little time with them, you’ll get the chance to see it shine.”
Sanny said having access to a wide variety of people and cultures in different stages of life puts Newman at a unique advantage to “share stories and educate others about the people who make Newman University the place it is.”
With two podcast episodes published and more on the way, Sanny looks forward to learning more from the growing pool of featured guests on The Newman Bond.
“We’ve got some really fun ideas to capitalize on the video portion of our podcast that I think people will enjoy,” he added.
An ever-growing opportunity
Jagger emphasized that Newman is more than just a university.
“We’re a family,” she said. “And as we grow and learn, may we continue to share in these experiences and strengthen our connection to one another.”
Episodes are filmed in Sacred Heart Hall in front of an archive-rich wall that features Newman photos from throughout the years, historical pennants and more.
“Our set is something that is still growing and changing and, while I think it will continue to evolve over time, it’s been very encouraging hearing from students and staff how much they like the look so far,” he said.
