Mark your calendars! Newman University will bring an authentic German festival to campus for its annual fundraising and social event with the “Party on the Plaza – Oktoberfest 2011.” The event will take place from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24 on Founders Plaza, just south of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus.
Among the many activities scheduled for the evening are a ceremonial tapping of the keg by Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer and Newman President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., German food and drink, a live and silent auction, and music by the Bucky Fowler Band.
The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to participate in the celebration of Sunday Vigil Mass in St. John’s Chapel on the Newman campus. Party on the Plaza activities begin at 5 p.m. and continue through the evening.
Reservations are required. Tickets for the entire evening are $100, $70 of which is tax-deductible. Tables of eight are also available for $700, $460 of which is tax-deductible.
All proceeds will benefit scholarships at Newman University.
