The Gerber Institute for Catholic Studies will hold the “Savoring the Faith” fundraiser from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, June 29, in the Newman University Dugan Gorges Conference Center.
All are invited to enjoy a night of festivity and fellowship in support of Metanoia, Newman’s Catholic living community on campus. Guests can savor a variety of wines and cheeses, coffees and desserts, all while learning about the rich traditions that tie them into the Catholic faith.
Metanoia currently consists of 10 members. These students strive to create a lifestyle based on Catholic values that honor God, serve the community and promote human dignity and academic growth. It is located inside Beata Hall and contains two pods each equipped with five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room. The close-knit nature of the space, including a shared common area used for daily prayer, allows for students to grow an interpersonal relationship with others through faith.
Metanoia was reestablished in 2022 after being dissolved in 2016. Father Adam Grelinger, former chaplain of Newman University, resided in Metanoia during his time as a student. It allowed him to foster a deeper connection with God through virtuous living and a culture of prayer.
“It made a great impact on my life, especially in finding my vocation,” he said.
