Dear Newman Community,

The Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) warmly invites you to join us for our annual Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration — a vibrant cultural event that honors the lives of those who have passed and celebrates the beauty of remembrance, family, and tradition. This event is one of HALO’s most meaningful gatherings of the year, and we would be honored to have your support and attendance.

This year’s celebration will include delicious traditional food, drinks, and desserts, all covered by the entry fee. Guests can also enjoy a variety of activities and attractions, including a photo booth, face painting, cultural crafts, free haircuts provided by local volunteers, and live music and dancing. In addition, we will feature a community ofrenda (altar of remembrance) where attendees are welcome to bring a photo or small token in honor of a loved one, they wish to remember.

The event will take place on November 1st in Newman University’s Dugan Conference Center from 12PM to 4PM. Students are FREE! Admission for faculty/staff and children 7-12 is $5, which includes food, drink, and dessert. Families and community members are also encouraged to attend; a group of six can enter for $35, and children under 6 are free. Día de Muertos is a family-oriented celebration, and we welcome you to bring your loved ones to experience this meaningful cultural tradition together.
