Newman University’s Campus Ministry is introducing a new Sunday Mass time for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Mass: The Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary

Beginning Aug. 17, Sunday Mass in St. John’s Chapel will be celebrated at 4 p.m.

Mass will also be offered Tuesday through Friday at 12:05 p.m., with the first daily Mass of the fall semester taking place Friday, Aug. 15, for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary.

Confession is available 30 minutes before each weekday Mass and from 3:15 to 3:50 p.m. every Sunday. Adoration will be held on Tuesdays from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. All Masses, confessions and Adoration hours are offered only during the academic year.

In addition to regular Catholic liturgies, the Byzantine Divine Liturgy is celebrated in St. John’s Chapel on the second Saturday of each month at 4 p.m., complete with incense, icons and chanting. All are welcome to attend this liturgy, which emphasizes the mystery, beauty and divination of the human person.

Newman is also offering Order of Christian Initiation for Adults classes from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Mabee Dining Center. These classes are open to everyone — whether you’re curious about Catholicism, want to become Catholic or haven’t yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
