"What Remains, What Renews"

About the exhibit

“What Remains, What Renews” presents a body of work that explores an intuitive and responsive approach to construction, where found objects and materials are continuously reinterpreted through reflection, repetition and process. Raymundo’s work combines digital and traditional processes and materials.

Everyday and industrial elements are transformed beyond their familiar associations, becoming sites of exploration and renewal. Through layered gestures and ongoing reworking, the pieces embody both the immediacy of making and the endurance of material transformation.

“At the core of the work is an ongoing attention to surface as a space of meditative labor,” Raymundo explained. “Through layering, mark-making and accumulation, I engage in a slow, deliberate exploration of material and time. Each gesture builds upon the last, forming textured fields that hold evidence of endurance, presence and transformation.”

She added that the exhibition reflects how the process itself can reshape perception.

“What might appear as fixed or permanent is instead revealed as open to reinvention,” Raymundo said. “By transforming industrial and everyday materials into fields of rhythm, density and repetition, I want to highlight the ways in which surfaces can bear the weight of reflection while remaining open to change.”

About the artist

Raymundo is a mixed media artist and educator living and working in Omaha, Nebraska. Originally from Gretna, Nebraska, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in art education with a specialization in ceramics from the University of South Dakota in 2020, where she also played collegiate soccer.

She went on to complete her Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from Kansas State University in 2023, where she was also a graduate teaching assistant. Raymundo later worked as an instructor of ceramics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including her first international solo exhibition at Galería Omar Alonzo in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in January 2024.

Raymundo’s practice centers on surface as a meditative space, with repetition serving as both process and reflection. Through layering and accumulation, she creates textured fields that embody endurance, presence and transformation.
