About the speaker
Docking, a former Newman Board of Trustees member, is a longtime investment specialist, philanthropist and civic leader whose career reflects a deep commitment to the state of Kansas and its people.
She began her investment career in 1988 as vice president of investments at A.G. Edwards. In 2015, she co-founded The Docking Group at Baird Private Wealth Management alongside her son, Brian Docking.

Throughout her career, Docking has focused on strengthening Kansas’ future through education, philanthropy and civic engagement. She led a statewide financial literacy initiative that delivered age-appropriate financial education to students across Kansas, helping young people develop essential life skills.
Her philanthropic efforts have also supported expanded mental health care across the state, including efforts to fundraise for a children’s mental health hospital and support pediatric psychiatry fellowships through the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
Docking has served in leadership roles at the community, state and national levels. Her public service includes serving as chair of the Kansas Board of Regents and as a member of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services, which advises the U.S. Department of Defense on policies affecting women serving in the military.
She currently serves on several boards and organizations, including the KU Endowment Association, the Kansas Health Foundation, the University of Kansas Medical Center–Wichita executive board, Heartspring, the Hall Center for the Humanities and Southwestern College.
