Samantha McCosh is a recent transfer student to Newman University from the Wichita Area Technical College. McCosh, who is pursuing a degree in sonography, said she was surprised to learn that Newman was within her budget after receiving a scholarship and grants.
“I wanted to apply [to Newman] right out of high school in 2008,” McCosh said. She held back, however, because, “First I thought I wasn’t smart enough, and second I thought there was no way I could afford it. I just thought a private college was way out of my range. I decided last year to apply because it was the perfect time in my life to go for what I always wanted.”
When she learned that she would receive the scholarship and grants, McCosh said “It was like a burden was lifted off my shoulders. I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to attend Newman because of the money factor. I should have come here sooner.”
