The Newbery Medal is given by the American Library Association annually to “the best contribution to children’s literature in America.” Vanderpool will sign books, and at 5:30 p.m. will share the “story behind the story.”

“Clare has written a thoroughly enjoyable novel,” said Associate Professor of Education Karen Rogers, Ed.D., “and it is only enhanced when you meet her and learn about her ideas and research.”

Rogers encourages educators to bring their middle school readers to meet the author. The reception is free and open to the public and no reservations are required. Eighth Day Books will have copies of Moon Over Manifest available for sale at the door. Attendees can also bring previously purchased copies for the author to sign.
