Newman University alumni are the heart of the university — and alumni near and far are doing amazing things that focus on transforming society, which directly ties to Newman University’s purpose.

Do you know a special alumni that deserves recognition for their Catholic service, achievements and service to humanity or leadership? Here is your chance to recognize those individuals and their remarkable achievements.

The distinguished alumni awards presentation has become an annual event with more than 100 alumni being honored since its inception. Help keep this time-honored tradition alive and nominate a deserving alum. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 3, 2021.

Nominations are being accepted for the following awards:

The Beata Netemeyer Service Award

Named for the first provincial of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, the Beata Netemeyer Service Award honors alumni who have given outstanding service to humanity, exemplifying the mission and values of Newman University by living in a state of critical consciousness, respecting dignity, honoring integrity and embracing all humanity in their personal and professional life.

The Leon A. McNeill Alumni Achievement Award

The Leon A. McNeill Alumni Achievement Award is named for the former president of Sacred Heart Junior College and honors an individual who has achieved outstanding success in personal or professional life through civic, intellectual or cultural pursuits.

The St. Maria De Mattias Award

Named for the foundress of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC), the St. Maria De Mattias Award honors alumni who display a deep loyalty to Newman University, its mission of Catholic education and those who have given meritorious and continuous support and stewardship to Newman University and Catholic life.

The Spirit of Acuto Award

Named for the area of Italy where St. Maria De Mattias began her ministries in the 1830s, the Spirit of Acuto award recognizes alumni who are driven to respond to the needs of others, using their talent and training to move a vision to reality.
