Alumni Weekend will be held earlier this year beginning April 20. All Newman University alumni will receive invitations in their physical mailbox as well as an email in the coming month.
Some noteworthy changes are coming to the fun-filled weekend this year.
Among activities that include a beer tasting, NED Talks, a spring fling, a baseball tailgate and the Alumni Awards Banquet is a brand new event: the Alumni Art Show. Alumni are invited and encouraged to enter their work into the show and even sell it if they wish. The artwork will be displayed in the hallways of De Mattias Hall from April 20-28.
Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Daniel Bryan said, “We felt like this would be a good opportunity for people to share their talents and abilities.”
An email with detailed information about the Alumni Art Show registration will be sent out by the end of the month. The registration deadline is Feb. 26.
The dedication of the new Heimerman Plaza will take place on the Saturday of Alumni Weekend. Also on Saturday, aside from the provided lunch for all guests, a special lunch for those celebrating their 50th class reunion will be held in the Tarcisia Roths, ASC Alumni Center.
The registration process has been simplified this year for alumni wishing to attend the event. Guests can either register to attend both the Alumni Weekend festivities and the Alumni Awards Banquet or they can register to attend only one of the events.
Bryan said, “We want our alumni to come back to campus and have a fun experience with their classmates and any other alumni. We are hoping that everyone will leave having a great experience on our campus.”
