Balloon pop, Santa photos for a cause

Dec 01, 2011

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Club and the Newman University Bookstore are teaming up with the hopes of benefitting a Newman graduate and former Bookstore employee. The OTA Club is planning to hold a “balloon pop” on Wed., Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the student center and proceeds will go to support Katie McKee, who has been diagnosed with a debilitating disease.

What’s a balloon pop? Students pay a dollar to pop a balloon and receive a prize ranging from a candy bar to a Scooter’s coupon to NU apparel from the Bookstore. Everyone who participates will also get a Bookstore coupon. In addition, people will have an opportunity to get a picture taken with Santa from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  for a minimum $5 donation. Once again, everyone who donates will receive a Bookstore coupon. Bring the kids!

McKee is a recent OTA graduate. She earned her OTA certificate and her bachelor’s degree in May 2011. She served as a student worker in the Bookstore for more than three years and was on the soccer team.
