Campus Ministry hosts Royals trip

Campus Ministry sponsored its second trip to a Royals game on Sunday, April 24. “After a great outing last semester, Campus Ministry decided to organize another trip to Kauffman Stadium for students this semester,” said Administrative Assistant Monica Borger.

The group left at 8 a.m. for the 1:15 p.m. game against the Orioles, which the Royals won 6-1. There were 19 of the 20 available spots filled for this semester’s trip, where students covered $20 of the ticket price and Campus Ministry paid for the rest and provided transportation. The Alumni Relations department attended the same game and Sarah Cundiff, director of alumni relations, teamed up with Campus Ministry to provide a free tailgate prior to the first pitch for Newman students and alumni in attendance.

Senior Tyler Winslow was one of the 19 students that attended the Sunday game. “It was an absolute blast,” he said. “It provided me with the opportunity to get to know students I normally don’t get to interact with. It was a great opportunity to relax and enjoy a little down time before finals week hits.”

Borger said that students seem to enjoy the trip each semester and Campus Ministry was excited to be able to do it again. “Campus Ministry is always looking for fellowship opportunities to bring students together and this seemed like a great chance to share time with fellow students, enjoy the nice weather and watch some baseball,” she said.
