Renee Soukup-Hein, a 2002 Newman graduate, presented a undergraduate research project at the 2002 Kansas Academy of Science Meeting at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan. The paper from the presentation was published in the Kansas Academy of Science Abstracts through the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Arlington. Soukup-Hein attended graduate school and is expecting to finish her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry this year.
“Renee has a lot of academic ability: she’s just plain smart and she works very hard,” commented Newman Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Chemistry Professor David Shubert. “She is also an extremely positive person and very supportive of her peers. Her attitute and actions embody the mission of NU, namely empowering others to do their best – the science faculty is very proud of what Renee has accomplished, but we expected nothing less from her.”
