Art for Lunch in Steckline Gallery – Lisa Zirbel
February 6 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Students can enjoy a free pizza lunch while listening as artist Lisa Zirbel discusses her work, “A Call to Care” exhibition in the Steckline Gallery.
This photographic exhibition explores the disparities within the medical system, creating a tension between the clinical and the personal, the sterile and the intimate. Anchored in data yet profoundly human, the work highlights the inequalities within healthcare, with a particular focus on female identity. The exhibition seeks to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and recipients. The images evoke a visceral response, where utilitarian medical instruments are overlaid with words of vulnerability and intimacy. These words, drawn from interviews with both caregivers and patients, ask the question: What is missing? The exhibition illustrates how tools meant to heal often do so through injury. By sparking a dialogue around topics too often shrouded in silence, it aims to humanize the clinical nature of medicine, reminding us that true healing begins with understanding.
The “A Call To Care” exhibition will be on display Feb. 6 – Feb. 28.
