Steckline Gallery presents “The Mourning of New Maps” for First Friday Dec. 3
December 3, 2021 | 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Steckline Gallery will present “The Mourning of New Maps,” an exhibit by Micala Gingrich-Gaylord, during a First Friday exhibition from 5-8 p.m., Dec. 3, at Newman University.
Gingrich-Gaylord uses a collection of textile materials to capture meaning that “allows stories to evolve in the process.” Fabric and woven material help demonstrate how life encounters can cause individuals to “consider endpoints and places of overlap,” as a mapmaker might.
The Steckline Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday in DeMattias Hall. “The Mourning of New Maps” will remain on display in the gallery Dec. 2 through Jan. 27.
