Fall ‘classics’ orchestral concert Nov. 20

The fall orchestral concert will be presented at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20 in Performance Hall inside the De Mattias Fine Arts Center.

Some The orchestral group includes woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, and piano. Students of all majors gather together to use their musical talent to form the instrumental ensemble. The group meets on Tuesday and Thursdays to refine Pep band and concert music.

Eleven new members have joined the group this year, along with the 16 returning members.

Trumpet rehearsingThe “fall classics” concert includes classical, jazz, Dixieland, and rock ‘n’ roll genres. Conductor Cindy Thompson said, “We’ll be doing a bossa nova jazz standard featuring baritone sax player Logan Talbott. And in preparation for the upcoming holiday season, we’ll be doing several songs from ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas.'”

The concert is free and open to the public.
