Newman sends prayers for the soul and family of Rev. Edward P. McCarthy, 94, who died Nov. 18, 2009 at St. Charles Center in Carthagena, Ohio. He served as president of Sacred Heart College, a predecessor institution of Newman University, from 1950-1954. He entered the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1929 and was ordained Sept. 8, 1940. His funeral was held Monday, Nov. 23, in Carthagena with burial in the Community Cemetery.
