Jet Days 2015

Beginning Aug. 21, 2015, Newman University will officially welcome new students to campus with an orientation that has been dubbed “Jet Days.”

Jet Days is a two-day orientation process for freshmen and transfer students. The event will begin in St. John’s Chapel, where students will be greeted by Newman faculty and staff members. Students will then be given an in-depth tour by a team of orientation leaders.

Newman Dean of Students Levi Esses said he is excited for Jet Days.

“This has been a team effort by the staff to make this weekend a reality,” Esses said. He also shared the mission of Jet Days, which is to introduce new students to the Jet family and show them “what it means to be a Jet.”

Following orientation there will be a speech with singer/song-writer John LaVasseur. Students will then attend a tailgating party outside Lawrence-Dumont Stadium before attending a Wichita Wingnuts game. Newman Chaplain and Assistant Professor of Theology Fr. John Foggliasso will throw out the first pitch of the game.

A video released earlier this summer showed how Fr. Fog prepared for the big pitch, with the assistance of Esses. See the video below or click here.
