Newman University athletics recently launched its new app to help fans stay up to date with game details, live updates and more.

The app can be found in the App Store or on Google Play by searching “Newman Jets Athletics.”

Zane Ehling, associate athletic director for external operations, said the app has been in the making for months.

Jets fans can access team information such as rosters and schedules, and will be an easy click away from the “Jetcast” — Newman athletics’ weekly podcast.

A notification system is available for those wishing to opt-in. App users can choose particular sports to follow and notifications, such as game time alerts, score updates and more, will be sent to their phone.

The app also features links to Jets news and a merchandise site where fans can purchase team-specific gear.

Ehling said, “It’s an all-in-one place basically. We wanted easier access for people — alumni and parents and anybody that wanted to follow us. This makes it really easy for them.”

The app is designed by “From Now On,” a company that partners with universities and high schools to help their athletic departments enhance the fan experience.

Ehling said more than half the MIAA schools they compete with use a similar app, which will help keep a level of consistency within the fan base.

He added that eventually, there will be some room for advertisers on the app, which would help support funding in the athletic department.

“It’s going to be great seeing our fans become more and more engaged with this app. We are hoping the parents and families living outside of the area will be able to follow along better and just stay more involved with what their student-athlete is achieving.”
