Newman alumna Tammy White honored by National Association of Professional Women

Aug 13, 2015

Newman University alumna and National Alumni Board member Tammy White was a 2015-2016 inductee into the VIP Woman of the Year Circle of the National Association of Professional Woman (NAPW). White was recognized for leadership in nonprofit services.

White’s youngest daughter, Camber, had long dreamed of owning a horse. After winning one at 8 years old in an EquiFest raffle, Camber told White that she wanted to own a horse farm and use horses to help children.

Fourteen years later, the Whites became owners of Blue Sky Ranch & Airport, a 40-acre ranch that includes indoor / outdoor riding arenas, large barns, airplane hangars and an airport. White and her husband and business partner Paul then established the nonprofit business Equine Endeavors of Hope and Healing. Drawing upon White’s professional experience and her husband’s history of teaching and working with at-risk youth, the business provides services and support to at-risk children, special needs children, children with autism and military personnel.

“Our dream is to use all we have been blessed with to offer hope, peace, love and acceptance to extraordinary kids and their families, and to give back to our brave military men and women who sacrifice so much for us,” White was quoted as saying in a NAPW news release. “Blue Sky Ranch and Airport is simply amazing — we know it is ‘not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace.” (II Timothy 1:9)

White earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management in 2011 and an MBA with an emphasis in management leadership in 2013, both from Newman University. She is a program manager of military / special missions programs for Textron Aviation in Wichita, where she works with international and domestic governments to ensure that their aircraft stay mission capable.

The National Association of Professional Woman is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women. It has more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating local chapters.
